Who we are
Named for the woman who never gave up on one girl.
NMB stands for Nettie Mae Berry — the grandmother who raised our CEO, Tandra Simmons. Tandra knows firsthand how much it matters to have someone in your corner to motivate and inspire you. To honor her grandmother, she made it her mission to give back, empower, and connect youth to the resources they need to reach their full potential.

Our history
Started in March 2010 as a basketball and tutoring program, and grown to meet the wider needs of Alachua County youth.

Tutoring
Academic and social support for local youth. We are between locations right now — contact us to be first in line.

Practical health education across Alachua County so youth can make healthy choices for life.

Every program carries a mentoring aspect — extra support, extra resources, extra belief.
Tutoring update
Our after-school tutoring is looking for a permanent home.
NMB is no longer tutoring at Tiger Bay Apartments, and our tutoring does not have a recurring location at the moment. Over the years we have built programs inside spaces we did not control — and when management changed or the room was needed back, the tutoring stopped. We are looking for a spot of our own so that never happens to our students again.
